Jon Niese stops the skid! Off to the Bronx

Thanks in part to Jon Niese, Eric Young, Daniel Murphy, David Wright and Ruben Tejada, the Mets won a ballgame! Yes that's what it's come too these days in MetsLand. But alas, there is some hope on the horizon. Rafael Montero is coming up from the minors to supply the Mets in the near future. This news excites Mets fans, as we are all looking forward to see him pitch! Game time is 7 for the Subway Series, with Bart facing Kuroda. #LGM

I haven't been here much....

.... And frankly I don't expect to be here at all in the future. MetsFlash was a test for Pepper, our very successful sister blog. After watching a dreadful game with the Mets and Marlins, I plan to take Two days off of Baseball. Relax my mind, and come back on Friday ready to win.

Mets Week in Review - Early April

The Mets have put up a 5-7 Record so far this Spring. Some of the over-performers so far have been- Jose Valverde, Kyle Farnsworth and Juan Lagares.
The Mets busts have been Curtis Granderson, Scott Rice, John Lannan and Bartolo Colon
While Travis d'Arnaud has gotten off to a slow start, He is warming up and will get there eventually!
2 Extra Notes:
1. Check into the Pepper:MLB Blog for coverage of all 30 MLB Teams.
2. Mets Flash will be moving to MLB.com soon, so stay tuned!

Dillon Gee named Opening Day starter

Dillon Gee pitched 199 innings of quality Baseball in 2013. This year, he is looking to do the same, and will get the nod on Opening Day versus Stephen Strasburg and the Nationals. Game time is at 1PM @Citi Field in Queens, New York

Mets Spring Training Report

If you noticed I was in Spring Training last week for the Pepper:MLB Blog. I had a lot of fun, and went to 2 Mets Games. The Mets lost both games, but it was meaningless. I saw John Lannan and Dice-K start those games!:
- Lannan
- Dice-K
The Mets are currently 3-5 in Grapefruit League play. I have been very impressed with Steven Matz, and hope he wears a Mets uniform at some point this year. I am also leaning towards Farnsworth over Valverde. Thanks for reading Mets fans!

Mets Roster Projection (Part 2)

Hey everyone! It's time for Part 2 of my Mets Roster predictions! So last week, we did Pitchers and Catchers! Now let's get to Infielders and Outfielders.
Infielders:
1B Lucas Duda
2B Daniel Murphy
SS Wilmer Flores
3B David Wright
Review: A
This Infield is really good. Though we could potentially have a different 1B and SS, I believe that this is the best alignment. It's time for the Mets to move on from Ike. I'm sick of seeing Davis struggle in Spring. Enough is enough eventually. Also Tejada seriously needs to hit in Spring Training. Tejada's average needs to be above 250, and that's mediocre at best!
Outfielders:
LF Eric Young Jr
CF Chris Young
RF Curtis Granderson
Review: B+
The additions of Young and Granderson will certainly help the Mets cause. I hope Lagares makes the team as a back up if he doesn't start. I like him on the Mets.
Bench:
IF-Josh Satin
C- Anthony Recker ( last post)
OF- Juan Lagares
OF- Matt DenDekker
IF- Omar Q.
Review- C+
I will be going to Spring Training next weekend, 2 of the 3 will be Mets games, will post pictures!

Mets Roster Projection (Part 1)

Hey everyone! I've been busy working for Pepper:MLB Blog that I kind of  "abandoned" Mets Flash!
Well, I'm back and here to give you my 2014 roster projection.
I believe the Mets Starting Rotation will look a little bit like this:
1. Jon Niese
2. Zack Wheeler
3.Dillon Gee
4. Bartolo Colon
5. John Lannan or Daisuke Matsusaka
Report= B+
The Rotation is good, yet I think people are overvaluing Colon. He is a number #4 pitcher at best, and has very little stamina. I believe Lannan wins the battle for the Fifth Starter, as a truly dont like Dice-K's stuff.
Bullpen:
Carlos Torres
Scott rice
Kyle Farnsworth
Jose Valverde
Vic Black
Bobby Parnell
(The loser of the #5)
Report: A-
I think the bullpen is a strength of this years Mets Club, Valverde was a steal, because if he can find his pitch, he can be dominant.
Catchers:
Anthony Recker
Travis D'arnaud
report : B
D'Arnaud's offense was mediocre last year, but if he can give us 15 HR's I will be satisfied.
Well that's all for today, I'll give you Part 2 later this week.
Here's two notes:
Come MLB Season, expect two posts daily, a Pre and Post review. Until then posts will be on a once a week basis.
